Welcome to South Church! We are a diverse community of faithful and seekers. We are Baptist (ABC) and Congregational (UCC); we are black, brown and white, gay and straight, Republican and Democrat, born again and agnostic; we work in schools, offices, factories and Dunkin’ Donuts; we are students, retired and unemployed. We come from backgrounds Protestant and Catholic, while others are discovering church for the first time.

And when we come together with our joys and sorrows, our faith and our doubts – when we worship together, share communion together, sing together, study the Bible together, and fellowship together – we love and support one another to become one body of Christ.

A Hundred Gather To Care

Led by Emily Goodnow, our very able seminary intern, more than 100 people gathered at South for a community forum on poverty in New Britain. City leaders, church folks, and other supporters came together to learn, brainstorm solutions, and collaborate. For more details, click here to read the article in the New Britain Herald.

South Rebuilds the Neighborhood & Walks Against Hunger

South joined the 44,000 in Hartford who walked against hunger this past May. All proceeds from the South team supported the important work of the Friendship Center - New Britain's homeless shelter.

A team from South gathered to repair, paint, garden, clean, and spruce up several properties of the Erwin Home - a supportive housing program for single women with young families. Check out the full dumpster in the background!
